Description

The Frittelle di Mele al Forno, apple fritters baked in the oven, are delicate rounds of dough, apple and spices that are baked, instead of fried, still delivering a delicious sweet taste!!!

Ingredients
  • 2 apples
  • 140 grams type 2 flour
  • 1 egg
  • 120 milliliters milk
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Juice of one lemon
  • Lemon and orange zest
  • Cinnamon powder (as needed)
Preparation
  1. Peel the apples and remove the central core, using the appropriate tool or with the help of a courgette digger. Cut them into round slices about half a centimeter thick and place them in a bowl, sprinkling them with lemon juice to prevent them from blackening.

Heat the oven to 170° C. In another bowl, break the egg and beat it with half the milk, add the sifted flour, salt, yeast and, if desired, the lemon and orange zest, mixing quickly with a whisk. or with a fork. Pour in the remaining milk and mix again until you obtain a fairly thick creamy mixture.

Drain the apple slices from the lemon and pat them dry with paper towels, so the batter can stick well. Dip each apple slice into the batter and place it on the baking tray covered with baking paper.

Place in the oven and leave to cook for approximately 15/20 minutes. When the batter is puffy and golden brown, you can take it out of the oven. Let the pancakes cool completely before gently removing them from the baking paper, using a spatula. If desired, sprinkle them with ground cinnamon.
